• Harbour Pilotage is compulsory for ships entering Summerside Harbour

• Pilots require the following parameters when bringing vessels into the harbour:

  • All cargo vessels must have a bow thruster

  • All cargo vessels over 190m LOA, must be approved by Port Administration and local pilots

  • Maximum breadth:  25 meters

  • Maximum draft at West Berth:  8.0 metres at chart datum low-tide

  • Maximum draft at East Berth: 6.4 metres at chart datum low-tide

  • The approach channel has a width of 80m

  • For ships slightly over these parameters, local pilots will assess each ship individually to determine if it is acceptable
